About Luke

I decided to become a counselor after noticing that all of my other choices of work were in the helping professions. I worked for residence life departments at Oregon State University and Southern Oregon university, and have over a decade of experience working at both day and residential youth summer camp programs. I have worked in the mental health field since 2009, when I began working with high school students in rural Oregon as well as Rogue Community College counseling center in Medford, OR for my graduate school internship. I became clinically licensed while working at a large counseling agency in the Portland area in 2014, then spent two years working as a substance use and abuse counselor in South Dakota. In 2016 I moved to the Oregon Coast and began a private practice, which I transitioned to Portland in 2019. In addition to private practice, I spent two seasons as the lead field therapist for a wilderness therapy program based on the Olympic Peninsula, where I worked with at-risk youth in the outdoors. Using the wilderness as a therapeutic tool, I have seen first hand how our lives can be transformed and healed through nature. In the rest of my life I enjoy spending time in nature, being with community, photography, hiking, and camping.
